Well it’s almost Mother’s Day (and that means my birthday too). I can’t believe this year is almost half over. My kids will be home for summer break in exactly two weeks. I try not to make a big fuss about Mother’s Day or my birthday. My kids love celebrating though. They write me the sweetest notes, and of course, they love celebrating with going out to dinner and cake - so I oblige. Aside from the cute notes, I always love those Mother’s Day coupon books, especially when there’s one in there about a back or hair massage! Oh why are they never long enough?
Since I’m a work-at-home/studio mommy, I don’t think about getting dressed up nearly as often as I once used to. I often see no reason. Maybe that makes me lazy. I’m not sure. When it comes to Mother’s Day though, I do feel like dressing up, and I love dressing up my little ones like I always do. My youngest daughter just loves wearing a tutu, especially to match mommy. I embrace the moment so I'm always on the lookout for matching outfits for mother and daughter.
I prefer to do all my shopping online. Gosh, the internet is so convenient so why not? I’ve already eyeballed a few Moms’ Day outfits. Let me know what you think. I need to make my decision on what to order within the next day or two, and then I’ll make a tutu for my daughter to wear so we can be matchy-matchy.
I recently discovered Ruche. I am in love with the vintage inspired clothing and clean, simple lines. This teal dress has sort of a 50s vibe to it. Love that! I think it can be dressed up with heels or dressed down with flats. Here are two tutus we offer that really match this teal/aqua dress nicely: one solid colored (Ocean Deep) and one multi colored (Freshwater Pearls).

Nordstrom is always a tried and true favorite. I know they’re not always the cheapest, but I do like to buy quality mixed with high fashion style. I adore this garnet and white Chevron striped dress. It’s seems to be really forgiving since it’s so flowing, and the Chevron pattern is huge this year! I've seen it pop up on everything from baby layette to home décor. I like how our garnet and white tutu match this dress since the tutu has a stripped effect from the two colors.

My third favorite find is this flouncy dress from Ann Taylor. This store has always been one of my favorite for its classic design. I think this coral dress would be nice with some strappy sandals or even metallic flats. Since the dress is so simple and classic, I think our solid colored coral tutu would be a really nice complement for my little girl to wear with this dress. It’s simple meets fun. For a little sassier look, our coral striped tutu is nice.

I know the dress isn't what matters, but because I’m so proud to be a mom, I do like to dress up a little for Mother’s Day. To me (and I know most moms feel this way), it’s the most important job in the world and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Yes, sometimes I do complain and bicker about how my body isn't what it once used to be, but that’s okay. I’ll keep the extra middle I carry to have my babies. Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms and mothers-to-be! Cherish these fleeting moments in time because before you know it, they’ll be over.Angela S
